Ingredients
To fry and grind
Vendayam (fenugreek seed)
4 tsp
Urad Dal
2 1/2 tbsp
Jaggary, powdered
2 tbsp
Tamarind
small gooseberry size
Red Chilli
1 big size
Salt
to taste
Cooking Oil
2 tsp
Method
- Dry roast the Fenugreek seed in low flame till light reddish colour, keep aside.
- Add oil in the kadai (pan).
- Add Urad Dal, Red Chilli and Tamarind.
- Fry till Urad Dal becomes light brown colour, Cool it and keep aside.
- Grind the dry roasted Fenugreek seed into nice powder in mixie.
- Add the fried Urad Dal mixture to the above and grind again.
- Add Jaggary and grind again.
- Add salt and water, grind to make a paste.
- Transfer to the bowl and serve with rice
Note:
- Make sure to grind only the dry roasted Fenugreek seed first to ensure you get nice powder.
- After transferring the paste to bowl, it will thicken. So add little water.
Very few people like bitter gourd, and I happen to be one of them. Looks like a good preparation.
